Who Let the Dogs Out?

Hey Everyone!

Such a good week here in AZ! We had transfers and I will be staying in this area with Elder Walls and I am pumped about that! We put another girl on date and we got chased down the street by a dog so it was a fun week!

Let's start with the dog. We had just finished up a lesson with a lady we are teaching named Marfida and we told her we were going to take her a conference talk that would answer her question about tithing. We stopped by the Bishop's house to print off the talk. When we were riding our bikes home, the street was dark and all we had were the lights on our bikes. We saw a dog in the road and as we rode by it, it started growling and I said, "oh boy here he comes!" And boom just like that we were being chased 😂 I always hear Elder Walls talk about how tough he is, but the truth is... a golden retriever chasing him on a bike is his weakness!

Honestly we are so happy we are staying here! I definitely thought I was getting transferred, especially because I begged in my last 3 emails to president to keep me in the area. With all of the work we have been doing I'm glad that I get to stay to finish up what we started!

Shanice, the girl we put on date last week is moving into a house in the Mesa mission and honestly we aren't as bummed as we thought we would be. The reason we aren't is because of the girl we met named Olivia. She lives in the same house Shanice was in and last Thursday we knocked on the door and Olivia answered. We talked to her and she said "I'd like to be Mormon, I just never got around to it." That is when I looked at Elder Walls and smiled and then told her that's why we are here! We taught her the first lesson on Saturday and the third lesson on Tuesday. After we talked about baptism and before we even got to the invitation she said "I'd be down to get baptized". She is solid.

After the first time we met her, I looked at Elder Walls and told him that she is the one we needed to find. It reminds me of what happened when I was down in Mexico. We had been teaching Cytlali and had her on date. Right when we were about to drop her, we decided to stop by one last time to finalize it and that is when we met Andrés. I remember Elder Hunter telling me that he was the one the Lord has prepared for us and that has stuck with me ever since. After meeting Olivia this week, I knew that she was the one the Lord has prepared for us. I even shared the scriptures in Alma 16:16-17 with Olivia and she thought the same thing!

Just to wrap it up, I think one of the biggest reasons why I'm so happy to stay in this area is because I get to keep meeting with the Greers! We were there last night and we read 2 Nephi 31 and he broke it down to a point I've never looked at it before. He mentioned how much Nephi repeats himself and uses the same words like baptize. Both Sister and Elder Greer majored in literature and they said that isn't something people should do while writing, but Nephi does it because it needs to be said. He also asked us, "how many times does the Father speak his own words in the scriptures?" I could only think of a couple times. Elder Greer said how we can only think of a few times in the scriptures when he does, but 2 Nephi 31 he does 3 times! The spirit was incredibly strong in their home! The church is so true!

Love you all!
