Call me Tiger

What's up everyone!

This week was a little slower because everyone freaking bailed on us and it sucked, but we ended strong! We found a new dude and his wife to teach and we are excited about that! We also went to top golf today and I am like Tiger Woods... not really but I think so.

So yeah I went to top golf with Elder McMaster and it was fun to kick it with him. He was my MTC comp and battled it out in Mexico with me and now we are here, so we are homies! While we were there a member paid for us so shoutout to him!

Like I said the week was slow, but yesterday we found a new dude to teach. We were riding our bikes to dinner and a guy stopped us and said he wants to talk about the gospel with us. We are hoping he doesn't wanna bible bash but from what we saw he seems like a super good dude and I think there is some potential! We meet Wednesday and I'm so excited!

I was able to go through some of my favorite stories in the Book of Mormon this week and I am so grateful for it in my life! It makes me think about how much more I want to share it with everyone I come in contact with because of how much it has helped my life. If you haven't read it in a while, please do it! It's the best thing you can do!

I don't really have anything else, but next week I'll make it more exciting!

Love you all

Fechas

What's up everyone!

This week was chill. Not too many things happened since Wednesday so it might be short.

We met a guy named Javier and he is a homie. He has some mental illness and he has been open with us about that and he is such a homie. He is from LA and has had a tough life and it's awesome to see his testimony about how he knows he needs the Lord in his life. We put him on date for baptism for the 14th of November! We are excited to work with him!

The sad thing is nobody came to church this last week. We had 5 people say they would be there and nobody showed up so that kinda sucked. We can't do anything about it other than continue to reach out to them! Elder Walls and I gave talks and it was kinda fun. Usually I get a little nervous before I speak but I felt like a natural up there so it was lit. We spoke about the conference talk given by Elder Bednar this conference. I spoke about the importance of preparing and I think it went really well.

This week I learned to have patience. Olivia, the girl we had on date said she wants to take some time to think about everything and I was a little bummed at first but I'm learning to trust the Lord and try to grow! Please keep her and Javier in your prayers!

Love you all!

Who Let the Dogs Out?

Hey Everyone!

Such a good week here in AZ! We had transfers and I will be staying in this area with Elder Walls and I am pumped about that! We put another girl on date and we got chased down the street by a dog so it was a fun week!

Let's start with the dog. We had just finished up a lesson with a lady we are teaching named Marfida and we told her we were going to take her a conference talk that would answer her question about tithing. We stopped by the Bishop's house to print off the talk. When we were riding our bikes home, the street was dark and all we had were the lights on our bikes. We saw a dog in the road and as we rode by it, it started growling and I said, "oh boy here he comes!" And boom just like that we were being chased 😂 I always hear Elder Walls talk about how tough he is, but the truth is... a golden retriever chasing him on a bike is his weakness!

Honestly we are so happy we are staying here! I definitely thought I was getting transferred, especially because I begged in my last 3 emails to president to keep me in the area. With all of the work we have been doing I'm glad that I get to stay to finish up what we started!

Shanice, the girl we put on date last week is moving into a house in the Mesa mission and honestly we aren't as bummed as we thought we would be. The reason we aren't is because of the girl we met named Olivia. She lives in the same house Shanice was in and last Thursday we knocked on the door and Olivia answered. We talked to her and she said "I'd like to be Mormon, I just never got around to it." That is when I looked at Elder Walls and smiled and then told her that's why we are here! We taught her the first lesson on Saturday and the third lesson on Tuesday. After we talked about baptism and before we even got to the invitation she said "I'd be down to get baptized". She is solid.

After the first time we met her, I looked at Elder Walls and told him that she is the one we needed to find. It reminds me of what happened when I was down in Mexico. We had been teaching Cytlali and had her on date. Right when we were about to drop her, we decided to stop by one last time to finalize it and that is when we met Andrés. I remember Elder Hunter telling me that he was the one the Lord has prepared for us and that has stuck with me ever since. After meeting Olivia this week, I knew that she was the one the Lord has prepared for us. I even shared the scriptures in Alma 16:16-17 with Olivia and she thought the same thing!

Just to wrap it up, I think one of the biggest reasons why I'm so happy to stay in this area is because I get to keep meeting with the Greers! We were there last night and we read 2 Nephi 31 and he broke it down to a point I've never looked at it before. He mentioned how much Nephi repeats himself and uses the same words like baptize. Both Sister and Elder Greer majored in literature and they said that isn't something people should do while writing, but Nephi does it because it needs to be said. He also asked us, "how many times does the Father speak his own words in the scriptures?" I could only think of a couple times. Elder Greer said how we can only think of a few times in the scriptures when he does, but 2 Nephi 31 he does 3 times! The spirit was incredibly strong in their home! The church is so true!

Love you all!

Napoleon you're just jealous

"I guess you can say things are getting pretty serious". I quoted a lot of Napoleon Dynamite this week. It started off when the Elders quorum president quoted some lines and then I went off. But the real reason I have said things are getting serious is because they are! We found 3 new people this week and put someone on date! I'm pumped!

So out of the 3 people found, 2 were taught in the past and we started to teach them again and one of them is Shanice, the lady who just showed up to sacrament meeting last week. We taught a lot of solid lessons this week so I'll give ya a rundown of how they went!

Michael - this guy is a homie and knows a lot about the bible. He was found back in 2013 and has been on and off with the missionaries. We taught him the Restoration and he totally believed all of it. He loves Joseph Smith and the First Vision. I think the reason he hasn't been baptized is because he lives with his sister and she doesn't really like the church for some reason. So our goal is to continue to meet with him and help him grow!

Marfida - she is from Venezuela and probably should be in the Spanish ward but she is pretty stubborn and wants to go to the ward her son goes to. Her son was baptized a couple years ago. She has been taught everything and believes everything except for tithing. We tried to explain the importance of it, but she is pretty set about not paying tithing so we will continue to help her!

Shanice - she is awesome! We taught the Restoration and Gospel of Jesus Christ this week and she is loving the lessons. She believes all of it and is understanding it. We put her on date for the 14th and are hoping we can keep that as the day! Please keep her in your prayers so she can continue to work towards baptism!

This week is gonna be a lot of returning lessons with the people we have been teaching but I think Shanice will stay our main focus!

Now I wanna talk about how good conference was! Last October I was pumped about the Orem temple but how we have one coming to Lindon! So sick! I loved every single talk so much, I can't even pick a favorite! Every talk answered a question I had in a different way and I loved it so much! I hope everyone had the chance to watch it and if you didn't, go back and watch!

Love you all
